Dr. Tyhra Carolyn Kumasi
Dr. Tyhra Carolyn Kumasi holds a Ph.D. from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and is certified in PgMP and PMP from the Project Management Institute, distinguishing her as an expert in program and project management. Tyhra is a seasoned researcher and project/program manager with over 14 years of experience in Ghana and Ethiopia. Her expertise spans multiple sectors, including agriculture, food security, financial access, market linkages, nutrition, government systems strengthening, WASH, natural resources management, agricultural policy, public financial management, gender, and youth development. As a pivotal figure at Pemcoa Foundation, she spearheads initiatives focused on community empowerment, gender equality, and sustainable development, with a particular emphasis on improving the livelihoods of vulnerable populations through innovative and sustainable solutions.
Tyhra has successfully led large-scale donor-funded initiatives, managing projects worth up to $23 million individually and over $40 million cumulatively. She has secured funding from prestigious organizations such as the Canadian International Development Agency, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, the United States Agency for International Development, and the Conrad N. Hilton Foundation. Her leadership extends to consulting and direct work with organizations like UNICEF, RI-Rotary, CWSA, IRC, World Vision Ghana, and Winrock International and International Food Policy Research Institute.
Tyhra excels at managing teams and building strong relationships with donors, government officials, civil society organizations, private sector partners, and local communities. Her projects have made significant contributions to private sector growth, government system strengthening, livelihood improvement, and community health and well-being. Fluent in English and six Ghanaian languages, Tyhra’s extensive experience in program development, innovative action research, evaluation, and strategic leadership makes her a key asset in driving impactful and sustainable development initiatives.
